A new orchestra has formed, The Merseyside Improvisors Orchestra. Debut Concert! 30/1

Come and be part of a new Orchestra forming in Merseyside in January 2016, an improvising orchestra based at The Merseyside Dance Initiative in Hope St in Liverpool. The orchestra is inclusive and welcomes musicians from any genre and, Improvisors and non Improvisors. The only criteria is to have an open mind and ears and a desire to create spontaneous music collectively. We’ll have a performance at MDI every month through the year.

Site Specific Improvisation
Recently I had the pleasure to spend a day improvising in an abandoned sanatorio in the mountains north of Madrid with the organization Raras Músicas. Here’s a photo from the space.
The sanatorio was abandoned 20 odd years ago and the space has an incredible resonance and incredible views.
I find site specific improvisation very exciting and also very demanding. Trying to be in the moment and interacting with the musicians you’re playing with, also being in the moment and interacting with the sounds present in the space and interacting with its acoustic.
