Merseyside Improvisors Orchestra Concert under the direction of David Leahy and with special guests Paloma Carrasco and Loz Speyer. 27/5. 8pm

Image

David Leahy, bass player, composer, improvisor and contact dancer, writes about the concept behind the concert, ‘Musicians in space’ is based on the argument that the formal separation and the static positioning of the audience and performer does little to support a musical process, such as free improvisation, that is supposedly built on the close inter-relationship of all the elements of a performance ecosystem.

The Spanish cellist Paloma Carrasco and trumpet player Loz Speyer will also be joining the orchestra for this special concert. Loz returning again after directing the orchestra for their successful Sun Ra celebration and, Paloma after playing solo and with the orchestra for the concert in July 2016.
